Course Content

The University Foundation Programme in Business Management is delivered over one academic year and is structured to prepare students for undergraduate study in business-related fields.

During the first stage of the programme, students focus on strengthening their academic and language skills. This stage also includes an introduction to basic statistical concepts, which are essential for many business-related degree programmes at the undergraduate level.

In the second stage of the programme, students study three core subject areas in greater depth: Business Studies, Accounting, and Economics.

Business Studies introduces students to how different types of organisations operate. The module explores the global business environment and examines how businesses respond to external influences such as economic, social, and technological changes. The main objective is to prepare students for degree programmes in business and management. The course includes practical learning elements that allow students to apply theoretical concepts to real-world situations. Through coursework, students explore the various stages involved in starting a business and gain insight into the internal and external challenges organisations may face.

The Accounting module provides students with an introduction to the fundamental principles of financial and managerial accounting. It helps students understand how financial information supports business operations and decision-making. Students also learn how to apply basic accounting concepts in different business scenarios.

The third core module, Economics, combines both microeconomic and macroeconomic perspectives to examine a range of economic issues at national and international levels. The module helps students understand key economic theories and concepts while encouraging critical analysis of current economic trends, institutions, and issues that influence everyday life and global markets.

Throughout the programme, students also receive six hours of Academic English instruction each week, which supports the development of academic communication skills and helps prepare them for the IELTS examination.

The programme concludes with a final project, allowing students to integrate and apply the knowledge gained throughout the course. This project further prepares students for undergraduate study, and participants are given up to six additional weeks after the course to complete and submit their work.
